2010-03-27 15:29:00 (GMT) (Caymanmama.com - News Providers News)

Baby Abuelita Productions' "Big Idea" helps teach math to Florida's 3rd graders in innovative Go Math! Curriculum featuring the first educational series to receive the coveted "Green Edition" certification.

Miami, FL - Baby Abuelita Productions, a South Florida-based manufacturer of Spanish language lullaby singing dolls and animated DVD's that preserve the Hispanic heritage, was selected by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to have their loveable dolls teach a unit called "The Big Idea 1″. The math curriculum was uniquely designed for Florida students and features a unit on Toy Inventors.

The grandparent dolls have been a hit in the U.S. and Latin American markets since their launch in South Florida 5 years ago. The positive response from customers both young and old alike, along with support from the nation's largest retailers caught the attention of writers of the Go Math! Textbook series.

"Our commitment to the educational value of our dolls, books and animated DVD episodes has been there from day one, and we are excited that Houghton Mifflin Harcourt chose Baby Abuelita as a model for creating innovative products that could inspire Florida's students to learn creative applications of mathematics", said Hilda Argilagos Jimenez, a Miami-Dade County Public Schools teacher and President of Baby Abuelita. "With the expansion of our content and characters into the Go Math! textbooks, we continue to carry out Baby Abuelita's mission to develop learning while preserving the Hispanic cultural heritage."

Go Math! will be released nationally and in Florida in 2010 and is the first textbook series made from one-hundred-percent recycled material. "Being included as part of a cutting edge curriculum that incorporates environmentally responsible manufacturing and distribution processes, is a wonderful way for us to demonstrate our commitment to education and preserving our environment", said Carol Fenster, CEO of Baby Abuelita (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVdsHp8D_jM)

Would you buy a Republican book from this man? Obama ... - Los Angeles Times

Posted: 27 Mar 2010 05:49 AM PDT

KarlBookObamasmilesIowa3-25-10

In an obvious bid to bolster his flagged favorable ratings with American voters, Democrat President Obama interrupted an Iowa healthcare trip this week to generously boost sales of two already best-selling books by a pair of his harshest Republican critics, former Bush strategist and White House aide Karl Rove and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

Obama, who knows a little something about promoting his own books, was in Iowa City for yet another town hall session to push the healthcare legislation he's already signed and will sign again next week in slightly revised form.

Obama signed the original contentious bill on Tuesday and on Thursday CNN published a new poll showing the Democrat currently tied at 47% with Anybody in a hypothetical 2012 race, while one-in-five Democrats said they wanted another party nominee that year.

Wandering the aisles of the Prairie Lights bookstore, the president spotted Rove's book -- "Courage and Consequence: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight" -- and Romney's tome -- "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness" -- Obama picked them up to show to photographers. "What do you think, guys?" he said.

Both GOP authors are currently on national book promotion tours. Romney, a likely presidential contender in 2012, spoke to several hundred fans in Orlando Friday.

Rove, now a columnist for the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and a Fox News contributor, addressed a private evening gathering of some 1,200 guests at the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. He drew several ovations for his criticisms of Obama spending, as well as strong support for the Democrat's decisions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Meanwhile back in Iowa, Obama soon put both books back on the display table, thus passing on yet another opportunity for bipartisanship.

Obama instead spent liberally on two children's books and a $37 Star Wars pop-up volume for press aide Robert Gibbs. They contain shorter words.
